Welcome
If one is looking for Literature, you don't need to go far on deviantART. There is a large community of writers and a plethora of work to peruse. Featuring genres such as fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance, one would be hard-pressed to find an area not covered. However, due to the nature of the site, shorter works tend to get more focus. It's easier to quickly read a poem or a short story, and thus many of the feature articles on dA showcase those works. However, there are many novelists and serial writers among the mix, oftentimes fighting an uphill battle to have their works seen and appreciated.
With that in mind, I have started an article to spotlight some of those artists and their literary-worlds. The works covered in this feature will exclusively be long-form fiction such as novels, trilogies, etc., or fiction serials.

Current Stop - Loreithia
Our third stop on our Literary journey is the lush fantasy world of Loreithia created by Alicia Cooper (`Endorell-Taelos) and featured in the "Chronicles of Loreithia."
What better way to find out what a book is about than reading the back cover. Grab the virtual paperback and flip it over to see what The Chronicles of Loreithia is about...
"Known for its unprecedented beauty, Loreithia stood without chaos and destruction, a pristine world where the people and lands existed in harmony for millennia. The kingdoms and races ruled with an alliance they believed could never be broken. That is, until the darkness came. As destruction fills their world, hope rests in a single child. With many journeys ahead, countless lives hanging in the balance, and trials that will test the hearts of many, it is up to the child and those who help her to return Lorethia to its rightful order."
“But why me? I keep asking everyone that and they just say it's my destiny, but that doesn't say anything. I don't even know what that means." ~ Luciana
Excerpts
Of course, the best way to learn about a Literary World is to visit it yourself. Here are some works from The Chronicles of Loreithia to help whet your appetite.

SRC - A Destiny ForetoldOn a mid-winter's day, in a village near Evergreen Falls, peasant children were playing happily, oblivious of the chaos that has been spreading across the lands of Loreithia, their realm, and soon the kingdom of SummerRaine. There weren't many children in the Evergreen Falls village, but all of them were friends. It was an unusually sunny day for this time of the year. The snow had already begun to melt laying bare large patches of grass. The children were exceptionally glad to see the sun, as the winter days have been long and harsh forcing the children indoors. Life was not easy for these youngsters who have in their short lives experienced

Forever a childHe was something like what nightmares were made of. It was strange; he once promised her a better life, now that she was no longer a princess. Ever since she was abandoned by her own father and given away to the world to perish alone. But all he wanted, all he had a taste for was her blood.
She remembered his promise to give her something of a better life in exchange for her blood; he gave her dolls that resembled her own appearance, a bed and food. But as time went by, night after night of having him bite into the delicate flesh of her neck and wrists, drinking what life she had within her veins, she b

Luciana's LamentI feel only you,
I see only you,
I hear only you.
As the darkness creeps around me,
It threatens to suffocate.
Never enough to just take my innocence,
You turned me into something
I never wanted to know.
For all the things you've done, for your own greed,
Never once thought about your own child
Fragile as a porcelain doll,
now broken once more.
I dream about a world,
where I am free again.
It was never my fault.
I can still taste the blood
Of the many innocent souls,
It shouldn't have ever been like this.
Will I ever be pure once more?
I cry from the pain you put me through.
I cry as I carry the weight of the world
Loreithian Art
Literary Universes are worlds created out of words on pages, but many authors now expand beyond that. Creating or commissioning art of their characters and settings is a way to help enrich the reading experience for their fans, as well as help inspire the creators themselves. We asked the creators to pick out three of their favorite pieces and tell us why they are so special to them.
1. With the help of a special friend, `EmberRoseArt, this is by far the best and favourite photomanipulation piece I’ve worked on relating to the series. This is how I view Luciana as a young woman, still mentally scarred from her days of childhood. Unfortunately, she still bears the burden of all those memories and sometimes it’s just too hard to cope. I love this piece because it shows her sense of fragility and loneliness, her sadness.
2. This scene was created by *PiccolaRia. I really adore this piece because it shows a young Luciana and Dasarine going though a hard time, yet Dasarine is very loving and optimistic and tries to cheer up his young friend.
3. This work was created by *Isbjorg. This is the best picture I have received so far with Luciana’s parents, Emmanuel and Kaliya, before the wars began and he wanted more power and wealth. I really love this scene as it shows them young, but you can see he is beginning to get a bit too much and she's just not interested, sensing something wrong. Their relationship was indeed great to begin with, until Emmanuel starts getting more and more greedy and it puts a wall between them.
"Luciana, heroes very rarely are born that way. They are regular people who must rise and do great things. Sometimes because circumstances force them to. Other times because fate compels them so. We can never know why you were chosen, but you are the one marked to stand against and defeat Emmanuel. It's okay to be frightened. You are but a mere child. Someday you will be older, stronger, and more powerful, and you will embrace what you must do. That is why I am here -- we are all here -- to help you." ~ Zoran
Interview
The second-best way to learn about a literary work is to talk to the creator. Alicia Cooper was nice enough to sit down for a Q&A about her series and other works.
My name is Alicia Cooper; I am a young aspiring author from Australia. I love to write and dream about fantasy worlds.
On and off for about ten years, though, admittedly, not much actual writing. It’s mostly been information and creative gathering of ideas.
The Chronicles of Loreithia (#LoreithianChronicles) is a series of short stories and novels set in a fantasy world of Loreithia. The main story is about a royal family and a young emperor’s lust for ultimate power and wealth which triggers a war between good and evil forces in all the kingdoms of this world.
When I was around fourteen years old, I used to be a role-player within the chatrooms of Yahoo! Chat. With my love of all things fantasy, I created a rather simple character who is now known as Luciana. I thought Luciana’s world and the character herself had a lot of story potential, so I started to develop her more. Over the years, her character grew and so did the universe around her. Since I had a passion to write long posts in roleplay, I thought I should try writing actual stories about her and Loreithia.
Of course it has to be Luciana and her childhood friend Dasarine.
Luciana has been with me forever. Through Luciana I have been able to express my emotions and need to escape the real world when have I needed to. She is everything I am, although my story isn’t as sad or pained as hers. Luciana is someone who wants the best for herself and the world around her, but the pressures of life and her destiny get to her--the world weighs down upon her. It’s sometimes hard to see the light through the darkness, but there is still hope and that is something she wants to reach.
Dasarine, on the other hand, is the best friend you could ever wish for. Although his life wasn’t as good either, having been abandoned by his own people (a race of Dark Elves, similar to the Drow of Forgotten Realms stories) and left to fend for himself, he learned the harsh cruelty of living and learning alone from a young age. Unlike the people he was born to, Dasarine is kind, loyal and loving. He would do anything for Luciana, even if it would kill him. Through their bonds, over time they realize that they love each other. By the end of the story, they have grown up and become married, once the wars are over.
Dasarine is actually a character that belonged to a fellow RP partner who allowed me to use him for story purposes.
Luciana and Dasarine’s relationship is no doubt a hard one, with the trials and tribulations that Luciana (and therefore Dasarine) must face, but they get there eventually with the help of many allies and friends. Luciana and Dasarine actually remind me of the relationship of Catti-brie and Drizzt from Forgotten Realms. In fact Dasarine is inspired by Drizzt, although there are differences in the character to suit the Loreithia world.
The best by far is the fact that people have come to me and said that they find the story of Luciana interesting and want to know more. It's also encouraging to hear that they feel the series has a lot of potential.
This is rather a tough question to answer simply because I don't have much to show in the way of actual story chapters. Mostly random bits and pieces of artwork, short stories. and information related to the series. But from what I know, the fan-base has been quite fair as many have expressed an interest in the series. The fact the Chronicles have a sizable following despite the fact that there is not a lot of actual writing yet is fantastic and I hope to reward everyone with the actual stories in the near future.
I actually have an actor meme filled out on deviantART: [link]
I chose Mackenzie Foy, India Eisley and Gennifer Goodwin for the three life stages of Luciana (child, teen and adult) and Robert Downey Jnr as Emmanuel (who is Luciana’s father)
Like this series, my others endeavors are works in progress and still in the idea/development stage. I’ve begun writing a children’s story about an animal kingdom and two children’s adventures exploring the island in which they are ultimately stranded on. The other is a modern world gothic romance about Fallen Angels. Aside from those original stories, I’ve done numerous side-stories to the Chronicles, as well as some fan-fiction.
"When World's Collide" is a novella collaboration between myself and Michelle Lehmann. It should be mentioned that although it’s not directly linked to the canon timeline of the Chronicles, I still consider it a part of the series. It's an alternate-history crossover between my own world and the Relativity universe.
For me it would be the development of characters and world around them--as much as it can be quite a headache at times. I guess that’s why I've spent so long in the planning stages, since I want to make sure everything is fleshed out fully. The story is always on my mind and I look forward to the day it's fully developed and I can get it down on paper...or should I say my word processor.
To write, finish and one day publish them.
Firstly and foremost I would like to thank `mirz-alt for the time interviewing me and everyone who reads this article. Secondly, I would love to thank everyone who has supported or has had interest the Chronicles series so far either by reading or contributing artworks. I am very much appreciative.
