Dick + Sara by mirz-alt Dick + Sara by mirz-alt
*** Sorry for the wall of text, but I ramble...as most of you probably know. ***

In my early 20s, I created my main OC, Sara Wolf/Dark Flame. She was a Mary Sue. She was a fan character. She was the long-lost cousin of Bruce Wayne. She eventually married Dick Grayson/Nightwing. *sigh*

Thing is, as much as the set-up was Sue-ish, the stories weren't. Sara went on to join a group of superheroes apart from the bat family. She made her own name and identity--got her own rogues gallery. Batman was in the background, an integral part of her history, but not ever-present. Her marriage to Dick ended only after a couple of years. They were young and immature and it broke them up. After that, they hated each other. I loved their relationship because it was complicated. Literally, people cringed when they were in the same room together because it always ended in a screaming match. Of course, everyone knew they still secretly cared for each other, but they were both too stubborn and pig-headed to give. It made good drama.

Anyhow, as I am working on the Relativity universe, I'm laying to rest these old stories and relationships, but I still can't help but be nostaligic. After Sara divorced Dick, she ended up remarrying and truly loving her new husband. Though, tragedy hit and she eventually found herself alone again. Dick & Sara eventually did re-unite, but 10-12 years later, after they both were much more adults than kids.

I have been wanting to do a doll of Dick & Sara for a while. I titled it so (rather than their superhero names) because in our gaming and afterwards, that was always how they were referred to. It is amusing though. In my last revamp of that DC based universe, shortly after our RPGing ended, Sara never did get back together with Dick. Instead, she married another superhero, falling desperately in love and realizing what a healthy relationship was. So funny to see how the story changed from the version I wrote in my 20s to the version written in my late 30s.

This is a scene that takes place after Sara's second marriage ends. She goes through a deep period of mourning. It's during that time that their animosity towards each other softens a bit. They still have tension, but this is a turning point for Sara...and ultimately Dick.

Doll-wise, I'm happy with this. Again, just doing what feels good. Totally different technique on Sara's hair this time, and I like it. Still heavily doing my "comicbook" coloring/shading. Also, I'm happy because I'm getting braver with contrast and colors.

Bases are by Random Doodles which is no longer online. :(

*** Dick Grayson/Nightwing belongs to DC and is not owned by me. This piece is fan-art parody. Sara Wolff/Dark Flame is owned and © me. This piece is NOT for public use. Do not steal. ***

See, this is why I can't take Batman seriously. :giggle: His real name is just far too rude. That and my older brother is obsessed with him.

LOL! That's actually Nightwing. He was the original Robin. But, yeah, people don't call Richards "Dick" anymore as a nickname. That was back on the 40s, though.

Honestly, Dick Grayson is SOOO hot. And he's sweet and much more down-to-earth than Batman. I always far liked him better. But Bruce Wayne has dark, brooding and moody down, so that's the appeal.

superheroes but I never knew he liked Batman to such a massive extent. He went into this really weird state of mourning. He bought himself 5 Batman T-shirts and he wore one every day. 0-o Though to be honest I think he did that because he liked me thinking he was crazy. XD

I can't think of Batman or Robin or whoever as hot though, you're entitled to your opinion but it just makes me think of my brother you know? I think Richards still get called Dick for short though, and even if you don't consciously name your kid it (Dick) if he's called Richard, the kids at his school will. XD Kids have an extreme ability to be cruel.

Nah, I understand that. You make associations. Like when I want to name a character a certain name and Jim says, "no, you can't because I knew a kid in school with that name." :giggle: Though, honestly, it's really funny. Since we've pulled into the Relativity universe, I just don't see the DC Characters in the same light. Like in my mind, the comic book characters are make-believe and the Relativity characters are real. Of course, that has nothing to do with how it is, but in my that's how it is. Probably because my OCs are more real to me and more clearly defined in my mind. Comic book characters have all kinds of different interpretations.

I am so hot for Michael/Black Torrent, which is kinda crazy because I look at him through Sara's eyes a lot. So, kinda can't go there. But, I know if I were just a fan, that would be who I would be fan-girling over. Oh, and Yule. He's the old guy, but majorly hot. :giggle:

Thank you. I'm glad that came across because I wanted it to. She goes through a very long and deep period of mourning and depression. Her character is so good and sweet, but she goes through so much in her life. I feel sorry for her--even though I created her! :giggle:

Inorite? It's totally killing me, too. I have to edit a couple of sections and it's so hard!

BTW, I got a little package from you. I shall journal and brag about it next week. Was gonna do it today, but I didn't want the Stash drama overshadowing it. But know I got it and love you more. (And my kids love them as much as Dylan did.)
